Business Leaders
1. ETHICAL BUSINESS POLICY
All members must draw up and work in accordance with a comprehensive ethical business policy. Members ethical business policies will be made publicly available and reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
EFF members are required to incorporate minimum labour standards in their sourcing and trading policy and practices, as defined by the Ethical Trading Initiative Base code.
EFF members must incorporate at least one of the following in their sourcing and business practices:
Organic sourcing
Use of sustainable and eco friendly materials
Recycling
Fair trade sourcing (from IFAT members and to Fairtrade Foundation standards)
Supporting disadvantaged communities
Members ethical business policies will be reviewed by the EFF on an annual basis to ensure they achieve continually improved standards. Internationally recognized criteria will be expected to be built in and adhered to: for example the Soil Association mark for organic products, and the fair-trade mark for fair-trade cotton.
2. PROGRESSIVE PRACTICES
All EFF members will continually strive to develop and build upon the social and environmental targets of their businesses. Members to look for constructive ways to lead positive change in the fashion industry, overcome challenges, and push boundaries to achieve better practices in their field.
Members will be required to assess progress against their ethical business policy on an annual basis, to draw up a programme for the achievement of social and environmental goals, and to monitor and evaluate this through an annual audit process.
Membership of the EFF rests upon continued progress towards better social and environmental targets.
3. MONITORING IMPACT
All EFF members will monitor the impact of and re-asses social and environmental goals on an annual basis. Members will produce an annual impact statement or set of social accounts setting down what has been achieved.
4. QUALITY STANDARDS
EFF members commit to working to the highest quality standards in their products, strive to improve standards, and monitor the development of quality standards for all products on an annual basis.
5. TRANSPARENCY, RESPECT AND INTEGRITY
All EFF members commit to conducting their businesses and trading relationships with respect and integrity. EFF members will act with honesty and integrity, with respect to any published information or promotional material relating to their businesses. EFF members will strive to conduct their businesses in a transparent manner, ensuring that accurate information is available to their customers and the general public with regards to their ethical business policy, supply chain and business practices.
6. COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP
All EFF members commit to dealing fairly and respectfully with trading partners and competition, and where possible encouraging and promoting partnerships and collaboration in order to achieve social and environmental goals.
