About Make Your Mark in Fashion

At stage one teams were required to choose a mentor from one of nine sustainable fashion businesses. They provided sketches of their designs and a simple but effective business plan detailing the process they would go through to produce their range, taking into account all elements from sourcing and manufacture through to point of sale. From the initial submissions each of the fashion businesses chose one team to be short-listed for the next stage of the competition.

On 17th April 2008 the nine shortlisted teams came to London to present their ideas to a panel which included a representative from each of the business mentors. Three teams were chosen as finalists and they will work with their mentor businesses to develop samples from their range to show on the catwalk in an exclusive show, at The Hospital Club on 16th September 2008 during London Fashion Week.

Make Your Mark

Make Your Mark is the campaign to give people in the UK the confidence, skills and ambition to be enterprising - to have ideas and make them happen. In 2007 the Make Your Mark in Fashion competition was launched, setting young people the challenge to form a team and create a new brand with the help and support of an established sustainable fashion label. The Ethical Fashion Consultancy was appointed to an advisory and support role on the project.
