As part of the Global Sourcing Marketplace, attendees were given access to an exclusive view of the iconic pieces designed for the RE:Fashion Awards, demonstrating how sustainable fabrics can translate to high fashion.
The groundbreaking RE:Fashion Awards took place on the 13th November 2008, celebrating people and organisations who have taken great strides in tackling poverty, healing the environment and changing consumer attitudes towards ethical fashion.
The designers Vivienne Westwood, Zandra Rhodes, Preen and Bora Aksu worked with fabrics and components sourced from African manufactures and community groups. These fabrics included bark cloth, organic silk and kikoy. Alongside this designers worked with recycled and reclaimed materials to create the exclusive designs which were shown on the catwalk.
The pieces are being shown exclusively for the first time since they were modeled by Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof, Leah Wood and Leah Weller on the night.
