The 2010 Ethical Fashion Forum INNOVATION Award is building on its support for new fashion designers with the launch of a new Award.
The Fairtrade Cotton Award
To mark the 5th anniversary of Fairtrade certified cotton in the UK, the Fairtrade Foundation are partnering with the Ethical Fashion Forum’s INNOVATION competition to celebrate the work of fashion designers and businesses dedicated to making positive change in the industry.
The competition application process launches May 2010 and is open to all fashion designers who have been in business for less than 3 years.
1. Rewarding innovation in design and sustainability
The competition seeks out and promotes inspirational emerging design talent. Entries will be judged on the basis of outstanding design and product quality, as well as social and environmental innovation.
Winners will be rewarded for initiatives which benefit the people and communities behind their products, as well as for minimising their impact on the environment and addressing environmental challenges.
2. Inspiring a new generation of fashion designers
The competition aims to inspire and motivate a new generation of design leaders to integrate sustainability at the core of what they do, and in turn to become influential in relation the the sustainability of the industry overall.
3. Widespread press coverage
The competition offers widespread international coverage for its winners and runners up.
4. Showcasing at Estethica and Pure
Winners will have an opportunity to show at Estethica in September 2010 or at Pure in August 2010.
5. Expert judging panel
Entries will be judged by a judging panel made up of some of the most important figures in the fashion industry as well as leading experts in the field of sustainablility.
