Shanghai Fashion Week 20th-27th October

Shanghai Fashion Week is hosting the first sustainable fashion show in China.

Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW) has announced that the closing show of China’s main fashion event will focus on ethics and sustainability in fashion.

Held in partnership with P1.CN, China’s first private social network aimed at the country’s affluent class, the show will mark the first milestone in the Chinese fashion industry’s shift towards a more sustainable future.

P1.CN is taking the opportunity to release its new platform, E Fashion – Beauty of Change, in which E Fashion stands for Exceptional, Ethical and Eco. The event will also celebrate the re-launch of P1.CN as a more socially responsible brand.

SHFW’s closing show will be held at the Shanghai International Fashion Centre on Thursday 27th October 2011. Among those attending will be 1000 guests, including international and Chinese journalists from the leading media, celebrities, retailers and models, all of whom will be celebrating and supporting this remarkable event, as well as the sustainable future of fashion in China and worldwide.

We-Impact has been appointed as the production company for the show and will ensure sustainability in all aspects of its role. Every component of the show will be addressed and considered for its sustainable and ecological credentials, including lighting, energy, and the transportation of guests to and from the show.

SHFW’s mission is to help Shanghai become the centre of influence and authority in China’s fashion industry, as well as the rest of Asia. SHFW is the largest and most important fashion event in China today, and its aim is to create a prolific environment for the Asian fashion elite and attract internationally established labels and design houses to the country.

The closing show will be headlined by the Swedish luxury eco designer Camilla Wellton and Chinese menswear designer Chi Zhang, both of whom will be showcasing their ready-to-wear Spring Summer 2012 collections.
