Shop of the Month: Kaight, NYC

SOURCE Market Editor, Krystle Epum, discovers NYC-based ethical fashion boutique, Kaight. She speaks to founder Kate MacGregor about the shops customer base and the opportunities and challenges of retailing sustainable fashion in New York.

Described as a traditional boutique, fitted out with bamboo floors, reclaimed wood, and sustainable materials, New York City shop Kaight is one of the leaders in US independent retail bringing sustainable fashion to High St shoppers. Kate McGregor opened the popular shop in August 2006 to satisfy her personal need to shop for ethical and sustainable brands that are also fashionable. That need grew into a mutual desire of like-minded women, and Kaight caters for customers from their late twenties to late forties: professionals who value well-made products, but are not necessarily seeking organic or sustainable clothing.
