Unique designs & timeless clothing made from quality natural materials.
Bibico is a women’s lifestyle brand that embraces a slower and more sustainable approach to fashion. Created in 2008, by ex-Zara designer Nieves Ruiz Ramos (also known as Snow), Bibico aims to to produce beautiful and timeless clothes that are produced ethically.
All the clothes are designed by Snow in her personal studio which allows the designer to add unique and personal elements to each garment. Many of the Bibico styles are hand knitted or hand embroidered, giving them a unique yet personal look and feel.
Most of the collections are produced by two women’s cooperatives that Snow discovered on her travels to India and Nepal in 2007. Both cooperatives not only work to fair trade standards but also actively aim to employ women from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds. This aligns with Bibico’s company objectives of producing a transparent business model while ethically producing wearable clothing.
Bibico now also produces some of its collection in Europe and after launching a store in 2014, they are aiming to grow their brand awareness and to increase the availability of Bibico within a wider range of stores.
Ethical Focus & Policy
The focus has always been to ensure that the people making the garments are being treated well and paid fairly for the work that they do. Today, Bibico work with two WFTO fair trade women’s cooperatives who actively choose to work with women from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Bibico’s main producer in India has grown over 20 times in the last 10 years alone and the cooperative now has 270 women who work on a regular basis. As a company, Bibico are thrilled to have contributed to this growth.
In recent years, Bibico has started working with producers in the EU and has launched collections that are made from organic cotton.
All Bibico’s clothes are created using natural materials and the company is constantly aiming to further incorporate natural fibres into future collections.
