Playful hand printed womenswear.
KOMANA creates fun and individual clothing with bold and quirky prints that tell a story. KOMANA carefully choose organic and fairly traded materials and also use ethical production as a canvas for their ideas.
Fascinated by Victorian oddities, tribal art and folklore as well as the wonders of nature serve as their never ending design inspiration. Comfort in silhouette and material are key, with designs that underline the uniqueness of each woman.
Their print designs are developed in a rather old fashioned method, working with collage, freehand drawing and paint brushing. They then print their textiles using silkscreens and manufacture everything in London and India.
Every KOMANA garment sold results in planting a tree in Niger, Africa. Thanks to Tree Nation.
Ethical Focus & Policy
The KOMANA collections are crafted using the finest organic fabrics. The team spends a great deal of attention finding comfortable, unique and modern materials that are mostly fairly traded, and always certified organic.
All London staff are earning above minimum wage. Waste in production is kept to a minimum, with an upcycling project in place using cut offs. Packaging is recycled and also kept to a minimum.
Non hazardous dyes are used in the print room, and any waste of paint is avoided. The brand has recently extended one arm of their production to Jaipur in India, where they work with a Fair Trade Federation accredited manufacturer who supports artisan based textile craft (such as wood block printing) and source local, organic and fairly traded fabrics.
The KOMANA team sees themselves at the beginning of am exciting journey, deepening their sustainable business practices and relationships in the future.
