EJF works to empower those affected by environmental abuse, in order to protect our planet and human rights

EJF empowers those people who suffer most from environmental abuse to find peaceful ways of preventative measures. Our organisation is all about helping people to help themselves. Working with grassroots organisations in some of the world’s poorest countries, EJF cuts through political and commercial agendas to reach those people who so often lack a voice for their concerns.

Protects the natural environment and the people and wildlife that depend upon it by linking environmental security, human rights and social need.

Creates and implements solutions where they are needed most – training local people and communities who are directly affected to investigate, expose and combat environmental degradation and associated human rights abuse.

Provides training in the latest video technologies, research and advocacy skills to document both the problems and solutions, working through the media to create public and political platforms for constructive change.

Campaigns to raise international awareness of the issues our partners are working locally to resolve locally.

Ethical Focus & Policy

As part of their work at EJF, they run a ‘pick your cotton carefully’ campaign, which looks at where the cotton they buy comes from, and the conditions of workers in those places.
EJF works with Continental Clothing, to ensure that all the cotton they use reaches the following standards, and hope to pressure other leading retailers to follow our lead.

• No use of child labour
• No use of forced labour
• Safe and healthy working conditions
• Legal labour contracts
• Payment of living wage
• Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
• No discrimination against employees
• No excessive hours of work
