Hand crafted tagua products.
Artes Cerro Grande is made up of artisan peasants dedicated to fishing and crafting. They are located along the Pacific Ocean in Santa Elena province in Ecuador.
Artes Cerro Grande feel responsibility and respect for the materials that nature has provided for them so they strive to produce crafts that represent the environment that surrounds them.
This association is part of the solidarity economy where they believe that economic development is linked to ethical policies such as fair trade and environmental protection.
Ethical Focus & Policy
Artes Cerro Grande is a partnership that seeks to develop the community through the commercialisation of their crafts in national and international markets. They produce jewellery made from tagua and pearl shell.
Their social objective is to add to new generations of craftsmen, with paid work, supporting the progress of the community and keeping alive an ancient tradition.
They practice fair trade policies, humanitarian work and environmental conservation.
The collection of materials is sustainable and involves no environmental or animal damage. The jewellery is handmade and creates no chemical residues or contaminants. Colour is created by putting the tagua through a cooking process.
You can contact Artes Cerro Grande directly at [email protected]. However, please note the artisans only speak Spanish.
Please contact Felipe Yerovi if you do not speak Spanish.
