Mehera Shaw is an artisanal lifestyle brand, inspired by the artisan textiles of India. Styled for conscious, modern living, Mehera Shaw is high-end casual wear for the conscious, well-travelled woman.
Mehera Shaw design and make everything in-house at their fair trade production studio in Jaipur, India. The brand was founded in 1999 by Shari and Mark Keller and have been members of the Fair Trade Federation in the US since 2010.
Alongside the brand, Mehera Shaw is also a fair trade manufacturer in India founded in 2007. Ethical Focus & Policy
Mehera Shaw is a member of the Fair Trade Federation in the US and is a vertical company which allows to personally confirm that all ethical standards are maintained within its production studio in India.
The sustainability focus is on slow fashion and supporting India’s traditional textile artisans. They manufacture all garments and printed textiles in-house in Jaipur, India and adhere strictly to fair trade standards and go beyond to ensure health care, pension funds and skills training for the staff.
Mehera Shaw adheres to environmentally positive production practices; they use only natural fibers, cotton, wool, and silk. They use GOTS certified organic cottons sourced in India and dye and print using AZO free, low impact dyes.
They have installed a full-scale water treatment plant for the dyeing and printing which is GOTS compliant; this means grey water from dyeing and can be reused for washing and irrigation. They will apply for GOTS certification in 2016.
Mehera Shaw also uses handloom fabrics in support of Gandhi’s message of decentralized, artisan production. The use of traditional stitching techniques is also in support of artisans.
