Island vibe, city living, versatile choices. A fusion of ethical womenswear with unique, heritage and artisanal elements.
Lily of Valley Isle began in Hawaii, bringing the aloha spirit of harmony between people and nature into its line of beach-to-town ecofashion. The brand offers flexible pieces in a mix of unique prints, maintaining a focus on quality, trend-proof appeal, and styles that adapt well to many heights and shapes.
Customers share their love of having something to wear that they can’t find anywhere else, yet also works in well with the wardrobe they already have. The dress-it-up, dress-it-down versatility of the line makes it easy for women to participate in sustainable fashion, having fewer, better quality pieces with meaning behind the making.
In 2016, Lily of Valley Isle is expanding services for clients focused on sustainability, downsizing and making their wardrobes less cluttered but more effective by partnering with a US-based stylist. Adding services that expand the knowledge and practice to everyday life, the impact goes beyond just selling an ethically-made, eco-friendly piece, it expands customers’ perspectives and ability to act on many of the questions they had and things they wanted to change.
Ethical Focus & Policy
Lily of Valley Isle combines organic materials, low-impact dyes, and fair trade production with a blend of heritage textile traditions. From handwoven fabrics to handmade block prints, artisan-based cultural and community preservation is combined with a focus on advancing opportunities for women.
In 2014, Lily of Valley Isle became Green America certified. In addition to requiring ethical and ecologically-conscious sourcing and production choices, Green America requires clothing brands to have sizes and styles that go beyond a 6 or 8, to be an equal-opportunity fashion choice for sizes 10 and above. The response to offering sustainable clothing choices to women who often feel left out of the fashion industry has been very positive, both from a certification viewpoint and a customer perspective.
Another great opportunity was surprising to the brand: the acceptance of their products to customers in US who are breast cancer survivors. Since it’s often difficult for them to find clothing that fits and feels good with the skin sensitivity after chemotherapy and body changes following surgery, it’s rewarding feedback for Lily of Valley Isle that its clothing works well for them.
Women seeking dress-it-up or dress-it-down flexibility in their wardrobes, with quality and uniqueness as top purchase criteria.
